Survivor Empowerment Program


The Compass Center is committed to assisting survivors of violence through the healing process. The Survivor Empowerment Program serves both male and female victims of violence, beginning at age three. All services provided to sexual and domestic violence survivors are completely free.  To make an appointment, call 605-339-0116.


  • Supporting survivors through the legal system, protection orders, and court accompaniment
  • Safety assessments and planning
  • Assistance with Victims' Compensation applications
  • Provide community connections to information, support, or assistance finding necessary resources

Play Therapy

  • Bi-weekly or monthly sessions with a Registered Play Therapist
  • Available to children ages 3-12
  • Children work on boundaries, safety, and understanding their personal 'bubble'
  • Children have a safe place to process traumatic events and express themselves

Teen and Adult Counseling

  • Ongoing one-on-one therapy with an LPC level counselor
  • EMDR trained therapist is available
  • Counseling lasts as long as the client needs help
  • A sexual assault survivor group is available Tuesday evenings
